Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam is one of my favourite places in the world and in my 5 different trips there, I’ve gained the lay of the land. So here’s my recommendations on where to stay while you’re visiting this vibrant city!
HCMC is organized into 24 districts, each with its own charm. On my most recent trip to Saigon, I stayed in District 3 at La Vela Saigon Hotel one of the city’s more premium hotels with one of the biggest rooftop infinity pools I have ever seen!

Here’s a quick guide to the most notable ones
District 1
The heart of HCMC, District 1 is where history and nightlife collide. It’s home to most tourist attractions, luxury hotels, and rooftop bars with stunning city views. This is a great area for first-time visitors because most of the main attractions are close by, however, that also means there are the most tourist traps as well.
District 2
An up-and-coming area popular with expats, District 2 is known for its chic cafes, boutique shops, and family-friendly vibe.
District 3
Known for its quieter, tree-lined streets, this district is perfect for exploring cafes, museums, and French colonial architecture.
District 7
A modern, affluent district with wide streets and upscale malls. It’s a great escape from the chaotic streets of central HCMC and almost feels like a different city.
